Objective: create a booklet chronicling the history of drag from its centuries old origins all the way to modern day reception and acceptance.
The copy contains excerpts from "The Art of Drag (2020)", an illustrated history book by Jake Hall, Helen Li, Jasjyot Singh Hans, and Sofie Birkin.
Most of the photos of a culturally important moment in drag her story, the Harlem Ballroom Scene, came from photographer Chantal Regnault, who published their work in black and white. I juxtaposed this photo journalistic imagery with a color palette of pink and green. This allowed me to mix the two ideas of depicting real history and the vivaciousness of that history itself.
